Few facts have been found about Sarah other than that she was born on July 30^th 1805 and baptised in Truro on November 24^th 1812. Two years before Sarah’s birth, her parents moved the family to Truro where her father had launched a printing and publishing business at 3 Lemon Street. We also know she married Thomas Bate, but not where or when. They had at least one child, Thomas Flindell Bate who was baptised at St Saviour, Southwark, London on October 28^th 1828. It is likely that Thomas and Sarah moved to London after their marriage, although this is speculation as marriage details have not been found.
